Akō — The Historic Home of Chūshingura
Akō Castle was built by Asano Naganao and completed in 1661.
It later became associated with Asano Naganori and the events that ultimately led to the famous raid by the Forty-Seven Ronin in 1702.

In 2026, the festival will mark its 123rd celebration.
It is a special day when Akō honors the samurai whose story has been passed down for more than three centuries and brings that history to life for a new generation.
Yet December 14 is not the only time to discover Akō’s history.
